Nothing horrid. Nothing to cry about. Nothing to shake your fist at the Lord about. Nothing remotely as bad as the majority of the world probably deals with. Just one of those weeks were some things have just felt off and we’ve had a lot going on and Wryder’s in another “testing the boundaries phase” and we’ve been at the mercy of a couple of people who weren’t people of their word and that?! Oh, that’s a tough pill to swallow for me.
Despite all of that, these little guys make my world SO worthwhile. They bring us such joy…unimaginable joy! Watching them play or seeing their smiles or hearing their sweet voices just ignite my heart with such love…
These are just a few of my favorite pics of our week!
These guys just have a way of redeeming all that’s wrong in the world…my world, at least…
This weather is tripping. me. out! It’s phenomenal. Best winter on record if you wanna be outside. Today, we took full advantage of it, skipped naps and played outside for hours. It was stellar.
The best part? It’s supposed to be (at least) 75 tomorrow and daddy will be home to enjoy it with us!
This fall weather has been absolutely astounding! Normally in Colorado, we’d have had at least one snow by now but it looks like nothing but sunshine on the horizon. While I don’t really appreciate 86 degrees in darn near November, it has made going outside quite enjoyable.
Daddy went to a funeral this morning so the kids and I decided to take advantage of this nice weather at the park.
They LOVED all the leaves! We have a few trees around the place but they’re all either cedar, pine or Chinese Elm; not too many leaves falling around here. Sawyer picked her three favorites to bring home for daddy.
We spent the majority of yesterday outside, too. We surprised daddy by cleaning up the barn and the feed room – a chore! – and this afternoon, we hope to finish a new cover for the well house. AND…I have GOT to finish little Wryder’s Halloween costume…but I need my handsome seamstress for that. 🙂
Enjoying the warm weather but yearning for a good freeze…I’m a little over all things that fly…namely flies.
I’m not the biggest fan of summer. I don’t really care to sweat unless I’m doing manual labor in a ball cap and cruddy clothes…pumpkin bread doesn’t taste near as good when it’s 98 degrees out…there is no football and baseball just doesn’t do it for me…I can’t stand sunscreen on soooo many levels (feel, smell, chemicals, etc.) but don’t want my kiddos to burn on prolonged outdoor days…flip flops aren’t good for my horribly flat feet but confining them in real shoes just doesn’t feel good or right…I could continue, but that almost seems hateful. 😉
Today, though…when it’s barely 75 and breezy and the sky is a rich blue and there isn’t hardly a cloud in the atmosphere…when it feels like fall…I dig it. So do these two…
I wrote on Facebook earlier, “how you hardly make a kid nap on a day like today??” It’s just too nice out to worry with a few extra winks, right?
Days like today…with play clothes and muddy shoes and dirty faces and pigtails…my heart holds close.
No hurry to be anywhere…no reason to be perfectly cleaned…no place I’d rather be…
“Are you gonna lawnmower, momma?”
“Not right now…I just wanna play with you guys.”
“Oh, goodie!”
But then fall comes, kicking summer out on its treacherous a** as it always does one day sometime after the midpoint of September, it stays awhile like an old friend that you have missed. It settles in the way an old friend will settle into your favorite chair and take out his pipe and light it and then fill the afternoon with stories of places he has been and things he has done since last he saw you. – Stephen King
I don’t want to rush the time I have with these two cuties, but I have no qualms about rushing the weather or the changing of the seasons. Today though, I shall marvel in this “summer” while my soul whispers “come on fall…”
I’m beat. We went to the sale barn with daddy today as we haven’t been in forever…thus I haven’t bought groceries in forever. I feel like we’ve made several random trips to the local store to grab more fresh items and milk…lot of milk…but no pantry stocking. We fixed that today.
It was HOT…and Wryder weighs a ton…and there were a LOT of cows. Sawyer stayed with daddy while Wryder and I went shopping. Once we had it all loaded, we picked up sister, went to the park, ate lunch, went to a different park and then went back to the sale barn for a bit. We’re home now, the groceries are put away, the kids are bathed and in bed and I’m worn out.
Regardless, here a few pics from the last few days around the Phipps ranch…enjoy!
It was an absolutely gorgeous day out on the plains of Colorado! I mean, don’t get me wrong, there could still have been less wind, but considering…
We went into Grant this morning for Bible study and then we grabbed some Subway and headed to the park with friends!
The kids played and played and played some more…and Wryder may or may not have fallen out of the stroller because he wasn’t buckled properly. Ahem. We weren’t moving at the time and he’s fine, thankfully. This has been one of those weeks where he’s gotten a little banged up. He fell out of a little chair on Sunday and bonked his noggin, scraped his chin and cheek on the dollhouse, cut his nose with his fingernail and then the stroller fiasco. Maybe I should put him in a padded room?! Maybe he’s just a boy…
Post park, we loaded up and headed home to play outside some more. Even the chickens enjoyed this beautiful day. They were all out pecking around and took turns playing king of the mountain.
Daddy did some chores while Sawyer and I dug in the dirt, jumped on the trampoline and “baked some cakes” in the barn. Then, it was pony time!
We rode out into the far pasture and I think the goat’s a little a out of shape. She was panting like crazy as I stopped to snap a few pics…
Sawyer has really good balance and is really comfortable on Ozark and I’m still having to pry Wryder’s little hands off of the saddle horn when it’s time to call it quits.
Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for temps in the 80’s! I’m thinkin’ we’ll be doing it all again tomorrow…
